MAYOR AL FERNANDEZ JR. CUP

MANAOAG son and former RP national standout Ericson Obosa continues to collect laurels in Pangasinan cycling circuit this year by ruling the Mayor Al Fernandez Jr. Cup last Sunday held at the Tondaligan in Bonuan.

The 28-year old Obosa, who ruled the Pista’y Cycling Classic and the PD Cycling Challenge earlier this year, used his international skills to outsprint his four breakaway partners in the last 150 meters to pocket the P5,000 top prize.

Mangaldanon Adrian Malanun came in a bike length off Obosa to snatch second place and collected P3,000.

Tarlaqueno Anthony Miranda landed third for P2,000.

All the major winners received medals as well.

Bugallon son Renier Clauna and Reynaldo Navarro from San Jacinto, another ex-national rider, finished fourth and fifth to earn P1,000 and P500, respectively.

Obosa, Malanum, Clauna and Navarro are members of Pangasinan’s prestigious cycling squad called the “Pitaki Boyz”.

The bikefest, organized by nationally well-known promoter Ric Rodriguez, was run in four categories and lured 112 participants from Pangasinan, nearby provinces and Manila.

The event was supported by Hitachi TV, Smart Broadband, Matu-tina Restaurant, Charles Evans, Bonuan Gueset barangay captain-elect Angel Gumarang, New Jersey-based Joe Ceralde, Jazy Sports Wear, Houston-based Blandino Caguioa, Engr. Rodolfo Dion of the 2nd Engineering District and Dagupan’s Aqua Soft Mineral Water.— JAGJr
