Symphonic voices filled the entire City Plaza when the Dagupan City Chorale, composed of city government employees, staged its maiden performance last Monday during the regular flag raising ceremony.

Apart from singing the national and Dagupan anthems, the group also performed some folk songs.

The chorale is composed of six sopranos, four altos, three tenors and three bass with Leah Aquino, the city nutritionist, as Chorale coordinator.

“Many have been inquiring how to join. We welcome trainees,” Aquino said.

The group has been training and taking voice lessons from Philharmonic Orchestra maestro Pong Mendoza and pianist Josephine Mendoza.

The Dagupan City Chorale, the official choir of the city government, was recently organized by city administrator Alvin Fernandez to perform in various functions, gatherings and events in the city.

During the ceremony, the city administrator also announced the city government’s plan to organize a chamber orchestra composed of musically inclined young adults.
