A group of blind masseurs/masseuses have been given a rent-free stall at the New Malimgas Market for six months where they can hold their massage clinic.

The Dagupan city council passed a resolution last week granting temporary rental fee exemption to the Multi-purpose Cooperative for the Disabled of Pangasinan beginning this month until May 2008.

Councilor Jesus Canto, author of the draft ordinance, said the other stallholders were consulted about the proposed exemption and no one opposed, indicating that “Dagupeños have a big heart”.

After the six-month period, the group is expected to have already established a clientele base and will be asked to pay a monthly rental of P1,500.#
