SAN CARLOS CITY–The Cansionan ed Plaza, the city’s yearly singing contest open to participants from all over Pangasinan, has started the weekly audition.

According to Lourdes Garcia, in charge of the audition, auditions are held every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m at the Bulwagan of the city hall.

A grand launching program will be held on Nov. 1, starting at 7 p.m at the city gymnasium. Weekly competitions will be held every Saturday of the month of November until December 15. The grand finals will be on the evening of Dec. 28 at the amphitheater.

Criteria for judging include quality, 40%; rhythm, 20%; showmanship, 20%; and interpretation, 20%. Voice quality entails correct tone, tune, and audible volume. Rhythm covers proper timing.

The contest has two categories based on age: A for 6 to 13 years old, and B for 14 to 45 years old.

“Cash prizes at stake will hearten and motivate contestants,” said Councilor Manny Sison who chairs this year’s Cancionan.
