City Council hails Duque’s untainted record
THE Dagupan City council unanimously passed a resolution conveying its congratulations to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, a Dagupeno, for topping the list of cabinet officials untainted with corruption.
Councilor Jesus Canto proposed the resolution after reading newspaper reports citing Duque being on top of the members of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s official family untainted with corruption, per a survey conducted by the prestigious Social Weather Station (SWS).
The councilors unanimously voted in hailing Duque’s citation particularly when Canto said the accolade has brought honor and prestige not only to Secretary Duque and his family but also to his fellow Dagupeños who have been avidly following his outstanding performances as a dedicated public servant serving in the President’s Cabinet.
Canto recalled that with Duque at the helm of the Department of Health, the Region I Medical Center in Dagupan City was modernized and inspired health workers to adopt new work ethics to ensure better service to the people.
Secretary Duque is a son of the late Health Secretary Francisco Duque Jr. who served under then President Diosdado Macapagal, father of President Arroyo, and also became governor of Pangasinan.
The Duque family owns the both the Lyceum-Northwestern University and the University of Pangasinan based in Dagupan City. #
