Vice Governor Marlyn Primicias-Agabas recently returned from the grueling weeklong international exchange program for young leaders held in Sydney, Australia.

She is one of only six young leaders who represented the country in the event sponsored by the Philippine Council of Young Political Leaders (PCYPL) and hosted by the Australian Political Exchange Council (APEC).

Held in key cities of Australia since August 12, the exchange program was an extensive study program that was intended to give Filipino leaders firsthand experience on political and cultural dynamics of other countries.

The annual activity, now on its second year, provides delegates global perspective on issues, and helps develop deeper friendly relations with other countries, according to PCYPL president Edgar Chatto, a congressman from Bohol.

The PCYPL is a non-government organization that helps develop young elected or appointed government officials into competent and responsible leaders through a variety of trainings, applied research, and international exchange programs.

The program included lectures on legislature, and discussion of social, historical, political and economic issues that would help shape the Philippine government. On the other hand, host country Australia provided opportunities to the foreign delegates, including the Philippines’, to gain insights into Australian political systems and cultures. It also offered delegates a chance to learn about Australia’s political system. #
