PGMA hikes reward for Resuello killer
Kabesa’s head now worth P1M
LINGAYEN-A P1 million reward is now being offered for the capture of the principal suspect behind the murder of former San Carlos Mayor Julian Resuello.
The reward money, originally set at P500,000 through funds pledged by citizens and the police, was doubled by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo when she visited Rosales town Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez, police provincial director, said the President told them that “we need to get Kabesa”, referring to Cesar de Guzman, the alleged main gunman.
One of the suspects, Angelito Soriano, had been arrested. Two other suspects remain unidentified and at large, Resuello, then campaigning for vice mayor after having served the maximum three-time three-year terms, was shot April 28 inside the city auditorium during the town’s fiesta celebration while he was shaking hands with the crowd. The mayor’s security aide, Eulogio Martinez, also died during the assault.
Resuello’s son and now Mayor Julier Resuello was elated about the President’s action.
The young Resuello, who was among those who joined the meeting with the President, said his family remains hopeful that those behind his father’s killing will soon be arrested.
