SP proposes to check pumps in all gas stations
LINGAYEN–The days of unscrupulous gasoline stations may soon be over.
The provincial board is set to discuss a resolution for the regular calibration check of gas pumps dispensing petroleum pro-ducts in all gasoline stations in Pangasinan.
Fourth District Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, author of the proposed resolution, told The PUNCH that while there are no documented complaints yet against gasoline stations shortchanging their customers, he said he has been receiving verbal complaints against this malpractice.
The malpractice involves manipulating the gasoline pump stations to dispense air instead of pure petroleum products like gas or diesel.
Rosario cited the experience of the local government of Quezon City in the capital Metro Manila where 33 violators were reportedly caught following the local government’s monitoring activities.
He said he wants the same kind of monitoring tobe done is all towns in Pangasinan to protect vehicle owners.
Rosario said some of his colleagues have signified their support and have also proposed the inclusion of liquefied petroleum gas or kerosene pumping stations in the regular monitoring.
The proposal will be tackled at the end of the month. —EVA
