Resuello brothers take their oath
SAN CARLOS CITY-Brothers Julier and Joseres Resuello have vowed to carry on with the legacy left by their slain father, former mayor Julian Resuello.
Julier and Joseres, who took their oaths Friday as the new mayor and vice mayor respectively, said their mission is to bring to fruition the dreams for the city laid out by their late father who was killed at the height of the campaign in April.
The 28-year old mayor, eldest son of the slain mayor and who previously served as vice mayor, said in his inaugural speech that he will prove his detractors wrong, as he pledged faster economic growth for the city.
Speaking before teary-eyed supporters during the oath-taking and inaugural of all the newly elected officials in this city, the young Resuello said the series of events over the last three months, coupled with the outpouring of support and love not only in his city but nationwide, have inspired and strengthened him to pursue his father’s vision.
He said he will not allow himself to become puppets of people with selfish interests.
“I know what I am doing and I know what I am saying. Mas matatagna Mayor Resuello ang ngayon ay nakaupo dito sa San Carlos (A stronger Mayor Resuello currently sits in San Carlos now),” he later told local newsmen.
Resuello committed to exert effort to maintain peace and continue with the city’s development although he said reconciliation with their political enemies is still not possible since emotions remain high.
Resuello told the crowd that this early, he is already talking to foreign investors for business opportunities in the city’s thriving and popular mango industry.
San Carlos is one of the top producers of popular type of mango in the country.
For his part, Vice Mayor Joseres Resuello, said in his inaugural speech he is elated on seeing the entire slate win in the last elections.
Also inducted into office were Manuel Resuello, Elpidio Fermin Jr, Samuel Millora, Saturnino Posadas Jr, Ricardo Paningbatan, Vici Ventanilla, Alfredo Arenas, Manuel Sison, Amelia Cayabyab and Voltaire Enrico Cabuay, all members of the Resuello ticket. -EVA
