SPORTS top brass of Metro Dagupan’s tertiary educational institutions are now stepping up their preparations for the coming basketball tourney scheduled to open on July 25.

According to Art Tangco, president of the Private School Athletic Association-Metro Dagupan Colleges chapter, the annual cagefest dubbed this year the “PRISAA Pangasinan-Dagupan Invitational Basketball Championship,” will be held at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome with 10 to 12 teams expected to participate led by defending champions the University of Luzon (UL) Golden Tigers.

Leading the contenders aiming to grab the crown from the multi-titled UL are 2005 titlist and perennial winner University of Pangasinan (UPang) Webczars, Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU) Dukes and the AIE Eagles.

Tangco also said that PAMMA, PIMSAT, Colegio de Dagupan, STI, AMA, PCST of Calasiao and the come-backing Metro Dagupan Colleges of Mangaldan have been invited and counted on to join the two-month long hard court hostilities.

Dagupan City‘s newly elected chief executive Alipio Fernandez Jr. will be the guest of honor and speaker.–JAG,Jr.
