MANGATAREM—Here’s one for anti-gun advocates.

The manager of an electric cooperative here died after he accidentally shot himself in the head with his own caliber .45 pistol.

Police identified the fatality as Antonio Saura, 55, married and manager of Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative here.

The accident happened while Saura was cleaning his gun inside his room in Barangay Osmeña.

Based on police investigation, Saura’s brother, Martin Andres Saura, a resident of Barangay General Luna here, went to the house of the victim and had a brief conversation with him on July 17 at 9:20 a.m.

When Martin was about to leave the victim’s house, the gun reportedly slipped from the victim’s hands and the victim accidentally squeezed the trigger not knowing that its chamber was loaded.

Recovered from the crime scene were one (1) spent shell and deformed slug of caliber .45 pistol.—EVA
