Finally, Dagupan City schools top NCAT in region

THE City Schools Division, headed by Superintendent Dr. Aurora Domingo, was commended for placing first among the 13 school divisions in the Ilocos Region in the recent National Career Assessment Test (NCAT).

The commendation was extended by Department of Education Regional Director Soledad Ligaya Miguel during the 3rd Executive Committee Meeting of the DepEd Regional Office on Thursday at the City Museum.

Miguel cited the good performance of pupils from Dagupan City in the NCAT to City Administrator Alvin Fernandez.

The Dagupan Schools Division also placed second in the region in the last National Achievement Test for elementary schools after placing fourth in 2005.

Carael National High School propelled the school division to 8th place all over the country when the former copped the fourth spot in the National Achievement Test, besting more than 416 se-condary schools in Region 1.

Director Miguel said that under Dr. Domingo, Dagupan City is recognized for its pioneering efforts in school-based training program and as lead performer in school-based management.

At the same time, the swimming and gymnastic teams of Dagupan City Schools Division is also the leader in every Palarong Pambansa regional qualifications while campus writers were also making their marks in regional secondary schools press conferences, especially in lay-outing.

“Now that Mayor Fernandez is back, I am sure that because of his professed commitment to education, he would certainly steer Dagupan City to all the number one positions,” Miguel said.
