Housewife falls ill from spoiled canned meat

A 36-year old housewife from Bonuan Catacdang who was hospitalized on May 6 for food poisoning blames the canned luncheon meat called ‘Ma-ling’ given to her family by Lim’s supporters.

Mrs. Maila Landingin, mother of three, suffered severe stomach ache, vomitted and moved her excreta several times before she weakened and was rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center.

Landingin was discharged from the hospital two days later.

Lim’s camp has denied that the spoiled Ma-ling came from them.

At her hospital bed, she said the can of ‘Ma-ling’, along with a kilo of rice and P100 cash, were given by the campaigners of Lim.

Landingin, whose husband is a security guard, said he was thankful her three children did not partake of the luncheon meat, which may have been beyond its expiration date, otherwise they would have been hospitalized too.

Dr. Joseph Fama, Medical Officer III of R1MC who admitted Landingin, said had there been a delay in bringing Mrs. Landingin to the hospital, her life would have been in danger.
