Dagupan City student wins in Math tilt

Grade 6 student Sara Jane Cua of the Pangasinan Universal Institute emerged as third place winner in the recently-concluded National Finals of the 2007 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge held at the Metrobank Plaza, Makati City.

Cua won in the Grade 6 Individual category together with Carmela Antoinette Lao of St. Jude Catholic School (first place) and Matthew Ng of Chiang Kai Shek College (second place), besting nearly 400,000 other elementary and high school students nationwide who participated in this year’s competition.

Guest of honor during the awarding ceremony was Education Secretary Jesil Lapus.

Now on its tenth year, the   Metrobank Math Challenge continues to become one of the most prestigious math competitions among elementary and high school students nationwide.

In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP), MMC seeks to encourage young math enthusiasts to hone their mathematical competencies and contribute to promoting excellence in education.

Metrobank Card Corporation and the McDonald’s House of Charities were this year’s major sponsors.
