Ayoy: Rachel and I still together
MALASIQUI–Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats Third District congressional bet Rachel Arenas and San Carlos City, mayoralty bet Julier Resuello remain firm in supporting one another in their election bids, and clarified negative reports that they have gone separate ways.
Resuello, son of slain Mayor Julian Resuello, told local reporters that he will continue the support his father gave to Arenas.
“Wala pong katotohanan na iba na ang sinusuportahan namin. Kung ano ang sinimulan ng aking ama, ipagpapatuloy ko yon (There is no truth that we are now supporting a different candidate. I will continue what my father started),” Resuello, elected city vice mayor in 2004, said.
Two years ago, the late mayor had been openly endorsing Arenas for congressman.
The young Resuello who is now the mayor added he is thankful to the Arenases, led by Rachel’s mom, Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas, for holding on to him and his family, especially for the continuity of their campaign as the young Resuello is running for mayor this coming elections.
For her part, Ms. Arenas urged San Carlenians to give meaning to the April 28 killing of Mayor Resuello “by choosing upright leaders in memory of a good man who gave progress and peace to San Carlos City”.
She called on the people spreading malicious text messages to stop it because she said they are just insulting the people.
“The people have an idea who is behind the killing. Sayang lang ang panahon nyo (You’re just wasting your time),” he said.
“Sa tingin ko, maganda ang laban ko, maganda ang laban ngaking kapatid, mas maganda ang laban ni Rachel, maganda ang laban ng partido namin (I can see I have a good fight, my brother has a good fight too, Rachel has better fight, my party has good fight too),” Resuello said. His brother Josares “Jolly” Resuello filed his candidacy as substitute candidate following the killing of their father and his bodyguard, Eulogio Martinez inside the city auditorium.
He said he became stronger after the killing of his father due to mounting support from the people, despite alleged threats and harassment they have been receiving.–EVA
