Ilocos Region to hold job fair on Labor Day
ILOCOS region will join the nationwide celebration of Labor Day on May 1 with the holding of a “Jobs, Livelihood and Housing Fair” at the La Union National High School from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Chita Cilindro, speaking at a news conference held in Dagupan City, said several overseas and local placement agencies and individual companies will participate in the event, offering more than 3,000 job openings.
The participating agencies and establishments include Aim High International Inc., Ad’s Overseas Placement Agency, Belvedere Manpower Inc., Concorde International Services, Emerald National Manpower Services Corporation, France Asia International Inc., AMA Computer College, BHF Prime Group Corporation, Lorma Medical Center, Mart-One La Union, North Luzon Growth Quadrangle Area, Pepsi Cola Products Inc. Shipside Inc., Rang-ay Bank, Texas Instruments (Phil,) Inc, and La Union Galvasteel.
Cilindro said the Department of Foreign Affairs will also set up a service desk to immediately respond to queries on passport application for overseas jobseekers.
The theme for this year’s Labor Day celebration is “Social Partnership for Productivity, Equity and Competitiveness”.
DOLE will also have activities at its attached agencies, namely the Technical Education Skills Development Authority, Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, National Conciliation and Mediation Board and National Labor Relations Council.
