LINGAYEN—The 1.3 million voters of Pangasinan can be rest assured that there will be no power interruption on election day in May.

The guarantee was made by Catalino Raña, principal engineer B for safety, security, environment and energy conservation of the National Transmission Corporation (Transco) during the strategic multi-sectoral conference held Wednesday, which was initiated by the Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial office.

The Transco established a Task Force Halalan program as early as February to ensure “A Brown-out Free Election”, said Raña whose office is in charge of electricity supply for the provinces of Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija and Aurora.

Raña said they have been similarly vigilant in past elections but “we give more effort now, with higher level, from May 12 to May 17.”

Transco’s personnel will undertake extensive patrol and inspection activities of critical transmission facilities before and during the election.

Raña added that they have developed an adequate response system for emergency situations.

Pangasinan, which hosts the Sual-coal fired power plant and the San Roque Multi-Purpose Dam project in San Manuel that generates electric energy, still experiences power interruptions.
