Brian Lim highlights “youth factor” in polls
New-Po standard bearer Marc Brian Lim has appealed to Dagupeños to move forward instead of returning to the past when they go to the polls to elect their next set of officials who will run the affairs of the city in the next three years.
The 28-year political neophyte, an opposition candidate, made the call in a personal letter to Dagupeños.
He made the appeal to city voters to hand the baton of leadership to young leaders because it is the lives of the youth and the children that are at stake in this election.
“The young must be given the chance to carve its own future,” he asserted.
The Boston University education management expert recalled that heroes of the Philippine Revolution were not old men. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Aguinaldo and the rest of the Katipuneros were all young men in their twenties when they fought for freedom against the Spanish and later, the American colonizers.
“The city needs the vision and the vigor of young leaders to move it rapidly into a modern and wired city of the 21st century,” Lim said.
In his letter, he outlined his platform which revolves on the theme that Government Must Serve as the Great Equalizer.
He said he will focus on the upgrading of public elementary and high school education in the city to give poor children an even chance to succeed, primary health and social services to the city’s poor, and making the city an investment haven so that new jobs will be created for the many jobless in the city.
