Knights of Columbus celebrate Order’s 125th anniversary

THE Knights of Columbus St. Therese Council No. 9116 celebrated the 125th year foundation of their order last March 29 with an open house at St. Therese and other commemorative activities.

Sir Knight ‘Paul’ Teng said the event highlights the founding of K of C on March 29, 1882 by Fr. Michael Mc Giveny , curate of  St. Mary’s parish in New Haven, Connecticut, together with a group of laymen.

Among the activities undertaken include the renovation of the St. Therese Council House 9116, Christmas Outreach of the St. Therese Parish, and co-sponsorship of the annual marriage validation project, the Ladies Night, and the organization of the Columbus Squires, St. Therese Council 9116.

The council also gave awards and recognition to several altar boys who were recommended by the parish priest.

Teng called on all K of C members to always remember the inspiring words of Supreme Knight Carl Andersons of Dallas Texas in connection with the anniversary celebration, “We must use the vision of Father Mc Givney to shape the secular world, change   the culture in which we live and be a spiritual force for the   renewal of the Church.”

K of C is an international Catholic Organization with 1.7 million members dedicated to working for the Catholic Church and the people in the community.

Membership in K of C is open to any man who is practicing Catholic and over the age of 18.
