Fernandez: We have a program for all
DECLARING that they will give back Dagupan city hall to the people to whom it rightfully belongs, the United Dagupan team said that they have a program dedicated to all, from babies to their mothers, youth and up to senior citizens.
Former Immigration Commissioner Alipio Fernandez Jr. said they will ensure that every sector of the society is given attention and will have a role to play in the development of Dagupan City.
He and his running mate, former Councilor Belen Fernandez as well as their 10 candidates for councilors, assured that every sector in the city will each have their rightful share of the meager city budget.
Former Councilor Belen Fernandez found that barangay chairmen are unhappy with the present leadership because the meager city assistance to the barangays comes to them only on paper, where there is an expense that needs liquidation.
She said the barangays no longer have any discretion in the use of their P100,000 yearly assistance fund as it comes to them now in the form of goods that, most of the time, they don’t need.
She cited one instance last year when the barangays received motorcycles from the city government but it turned out that these were charged against their P100,000 barangay assistance fund.
Meanwhile former Mayor Fernandez vowed to restore the Helping Hand Foundation which used to provide skills training for free to unemployed youth and adults so that they can find employment elsewhere.
Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez said the Helping Fund Foundation used to get a budget of P3 million from the city government until this was terminated by the current city administration.
