DepEd Sec. Lapus lauds math wizards

EDUCATION Secretary Jesli Lapus commended the elementary, one of whom was a Dagupan student, and high-school students who won in the recently-concluded 2007 Math Challenge.

“We are one in celebrating the achievements of these outstanding students and we hope that this will inspire them to reach greater heights,” he said.

Sarah Jane Cua of Dagupan City’s Pangasinan Universal Institute placed third in the elementary level individual competition.

Carmela Antoinette Lao of St. Jude Catholic School in Manila won first place, while Matthew Ng of Chiang Kai Shek College of Manila got the second place.

In the team competition, Jose Rizal Elementary School in Pasay City bagged first place, while Heneral Pio del Pilar Elementary School in Makati City and Zamboanga Chong Hua High School in Zamboanga City placed second and third, respectively.

In the high school team competition, Manila Science High School in Manila bagged the first place; San Bartolome High School in Quezon City was second and Cagayan National High School, third.
