ASINGAN–A couple and their two nephews were murdered Monday night at their home in Barangay Calepaan just as the town was celebrating it’s fiesta.

Sr. Supt. Isagani Nerez, provincial police director, created Wednesday the Task Force Miranda composed of personnel from the provincial police office, the town police, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and the Crime Laboratory to track those responsible for the killings of couple Conrado and Isabel Miranda, aged 50 and 48 respectively, and her nephews Adrian Fred Cancino, 15, and Cesar Cancino, 26.

The police said they already have enough leads on the case that can lead to the speedy resolution of the crime.

Nerez, who went personally to the crime scene for investigation, said he will also seek the help of the National Bureau of Investigation to help speed up the investigation and solution of the case.

The four victims were shot by at least four suspects who barged into their house around 9:00 p.m. and robbed them. The couple was engaged in money changing business in Urdaneta City.

A cabinet inside the couple’s room was ran sacked of valuables, including the gun collection of the husband and there was also no sign of forcible entry by the suspects, the police said

Nerez said the night before the murder, the police learned there was an attempt to rob them of chickens for cockfight.

“Ganoon kapursigido ang mga suspek na bumalik kasi isolated yong area at malayo ang bahay at open ang gate,” he said.

There were reportedly three other persons inside separate rooms of the house but were not hurt as suspects did not enter their rooms. —EVA
