ABS-CBN tops TV ratings survey
The March 4-17 nationwide TV ratings data from AGB-Nielsen Media Research Philippines indicate that ABS-CBN is the most watched TV station nationwide with an audience share of 47% as compared to GMA-7, its leading competitor, with 35%.
This means that fifteen (15) of the top twenty (20) programs watched in the country are ABS-CBN programs. The TV soap opera Sana Maulit Muli was registered as the most watched TV program nationwide.
The research also shows that majority of the country goes for ABS-CBN for news and current affairs offerings. A part from its national primetime news show, ABS-CBN is the only station which airs a news program specific to the north and central Luzon area.
Wowowee is the undisputed leader of noontime TV. The rankings in the list likewise show that many of ABS-CBN programs lead. John and Shirley and Goin Bulilit are ahead of all other comedy programs, Sharon leads the pack in the TV talk show genre, and Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 proves to be the undisputed leader in reality shows.
“For sure we are all happy to hear this, but even as we celebrate leadership, we will remain vigilant in nurturing that leadership,” said the ABS-CBN management.
“With everybody’s help, we will continue to sustain our audience focus – never forgetting that leadership is a result of the importance we place in our audience rather than ourselves. We will be constantly aware of the differences in the needs of our kapamilya in different parts of the country and the world to make sure that we meet all their viewing needs,” the management added.
