4 disqualification cases filed

The Commission on Election office here released the list of disqualification cases received by it so far.

Lawyer Reddy Balarbar, provincial election supervisor, told The PUNCH  that four disqualification cases have so far been filed in his office seeking to declare some candidates as nuisance or bar their candidacy due to lack of qualification.

These include the petition against Jimmy Queliza, an independent mayoralty bet, filed by re-electionist Urdaneta City Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr. (Nationalist People’s Coalition).

In Mangatarem town, former Representative Teodoro Cruz, who is running for mayor under the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party, petitioned the Comelec to disqualify his rival with the same family name identified as Edwin Cruz, an independent bet.

is seeking to disqualify a candidate for councilor identified as Raquel Victoria Lim of UNO-PDP Laban for allegedly not being a registered voter in the town.

Umingan town Mayor Alain Rabang, who is now running for vice mayor under NPC-Biskeg na Pangasinan, filed a petition for disqualification against his Loida Mendoza, an independent candidate, for allegedly possessing dual citizenship.

Hearings of the said cases had been completed and transcripts are ready for submission to the Comelec central office for resolution.
