Solicitation from DCHS students under probe

THE Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dagupan City is set to invite the principal of the Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS) to shed light on the fund raising activity involving students purported to have been authorized by her, in violation of the Department of Education’s policy.

DNHS Principal Dr. Teodora Nabor will be asked to answer charges she had abused her authority by not consulting with the parents-teachers association before implementing a fund raising project for the students by means of a popularity contest.

Councilor Teofilo Guadiz III said on Wednesday that not all parents sending their children at the DCNHS are well-to-do, thus the fund-raising drive was another financial burden heaped on their shoulders.

“I already conferred with members of the Parents-Teachers and Community Association (PTCA), alumni association and other school-based associations at the DCNHS and all admitted   that they were not consulted on the fund-raising project by Dr. Nabor,” Guadiz said.

They branded this non-consultation by the principal as tantamount to martial rule as Nabor seems to be launching and doing projects without any consultation with any school-based organizations.

Guadiz had earlier protested the appointment of Nabor.

He said it is also not clear where the proceeds of the popularity contest will go.—APE
