ALAMINOS CITY—This premier coastal city, home of the Hundred Islands, will be holding the biggest, grandest and most exciting festival in its history with the romantic Valentine’s Day mass wedding as the kick-off event and the formal launch scheduled on March 12-19 in honor of its patron, St. Joseph.

Dubbed “Visit Hundred Islands Year 2007 – Rediscover Alaminos … Hundred Islands. Hundred Reasons,” the festival will showcase a newly-revitalized Alaminos City, a green and global city that is now open for business opportunities and investments.

The highlights of the festival include: 1) Hundred Islands, Hundred Kisses – A Mass Wedding; 2) Global Homecoming II City Fiesta; 3) Cityhood Foundation Anniversary; 4) Adventure Hundred Islands Sports Activities; 5) Pista’y Dayat ~ Festival of the Seas; and 6) Farmers & Fisher folks Day; among others.

All the events are aimed at exhibiting the rich cultural heritage and ethnic diversity of the city.

This was announced by Mayor Hernani A. Braganza who administered the mass wedding for some 160 couples last February 14 at the Lucap Wharp attended by Sorsogon and senatorial candidate Francis Escudero, General Boysie Braganza, former Mayor Leon Rivera and Vice Gov. Oscar Lambino who all served as ninongs to the couple.

Called “Hundred Kisses at Hundred Islands,” the city sponsored a sunset wedding with a special Valentine’s Day party at the wharf for the couples. In 2005 and 2006, the city held a sunrise beach wedding at the Bolo Beach in Barangay Pandan for 70 and 130 couples, respectively.

On the forthcoming city fiesta, Braganza said he has invited anew Alaminians from all over the Philippines and from abroad to come and rediscover Alaminos and eventually convince them to invest in our City.

Just recently, the city government commissioned the services of F.F.Cruz Co., Inc. for the aerial mapping and orthophotography of the city as well as Palafox Associates for the preparation of the city’s Master Plan. The project was successfully launched last October 27, 2006 at the Rockwell Club graced by former President Fidel V. Ramos as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
