Velasco bio-documentary draws reactions
STA. BARBARA–“Inspiring story.” “Nice creation.” “Nakaka-touch.” Marami pala siyang nagawa para sa bayan.” “Napaiyak ako sa kanyang buhay”.
These are just some of the random comments generated by the 30-minute bio-documentary of retired police Deputy General Reynaldo V. Velasco aptly titled “The General Solution” which was shown repeatedly during the Christmas holidays at the local USATV cable network.
Many viewers who caught the film showing thought it’s one inspiring documentary on a Pangasinense whose biography can equal that of his two other prominent Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class ’71 classmates — Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senator Gringo Honasan.
Among the touching moments in the documentary was the interview portion on his mother Anacleta, a national Mother of the Year awardee, where she revealed how she raised her nine children and sent them all to college despite being widowed and mired in hardship and poverty. She died last December 8, 2006, six weeks after the documentary interview
