Lim wants some city dads out

Dagupan City Mayor Benjamin Lim did not hide his contempt towards some members of the city council when he encouraged the barangay chairmen to make a bid for a seat in the city council in the coming May election.

Lim expressed the hope that at least two barangay chairmen would become members of the city council than see some councilors get re-elected, saying the barangay leaders would be a better voice in the Sanggunian.

Lim, without naming names, accused some members of the present city council of being just interested in earning brownie points in order to advance their political interest.

“Let’s try this time to have two barangay captains be members of the city council. We can do it if we will support their entry,” said Lim.

Meanwhile, Lim also announced the Lakbay-Aral of the barangay captains scheduled on January 10-11 in Manila, specifically to pay a visit on Senate President Manuel Villar.
