THE overall grand prize of the first ever Canon EOS “Shoot and Run 06” was won by Arnold P. Viray, the son of Engr. and Mrs. Urbano Viray of Mabini St., Binmaley and an alumnus of Ednas School (Dagupan City).

Canon, the leader in total digital imaging solutions, recently launched the event at the Palacio de Manila, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City. The unique competition challenged the skills and creativity of participants composed of over 250 local photographers, amateurs and professionals as they braved the scorching heat while scouring the city of Manila in search for the perfect pictures for the two categories: “Faces of Manila” and “Splendour of Manila.”

Viray’s winning portrait of a smiling child by the Mexican statue of Intramuros was chosen by a panel of judges composed of experts who have distinguished themselves highly in the field of photography and who hold esteemed positions in the same field as well. They have chosen the winning piece based on theme, creativity, composition and overall impact. Mr. Viray received Ps 100,000 cash prize for the composition.

Viray graduated Salutatorian at Ednas School in 1989. He received his double degrees in B.S. Electrical Engineering (Cum Laude) in 1994 and B.S. Electronics and Communications Engineering (Cum Laude) in 1995 at Saint Louis University. He passed the licensure exams in both Electrical Engineer (EE) and Electronics and Communications Engineer (ECE) given by the Professional Regulations Commission in 1995. At present, he is connected with Accenture, Inc. (formerly Andersen Consulting) in Makati City as Technology Account Manager. Mr. Viray has also received numerous awards in photography contests in Manila in the recent years.
