LINGAYEN– “I was not, I will not and will never be a drug lord”.

This was the angry retort of Provincial Board Member Danilo Uy after a report that appeared in two local tabloids describing him “the father of drug pushers” in the fifth district of Pangasinan.

In a privilege speech before the Provincial Board last Friday, Uy said he was a victim of a coward and destructive write up in the two new tabloid newspapers.

“Clearly, these newspapers are giving Pangasinan journalism a bad name because these contain news and opinions which are products of dirty minds and dirty journalism,” Uy charged.

He said he stood up to clear his name against the claim of the unidentified writers of the two tabloid papers that he is “the father of drug pushers”.

“The accusations, especially coming from coward writers with evil intentions is most unfair. This accusation is not true,” Uy continued.

The truth is, he said, he and his family firmly stand against illegal drugs and illegal gambling, and that definitely his accusers are barking up the wrong tree.

To prove his innocence against the wild accusation, he asked Police Regional Director Leopoldo Bataoil and Police Provincial Director Alan Purisima to conduct a thorough and intensive investigation on the matter and unveil the real culprits.–LM
