BINALONAN – The family of an overseas Filipino worker who died in Korea is still in shock on finding out that the cadaver flown home to them was without his vital organs including his eyes.

This led the relatives to appeal to the government for help and to determine the cause of his death and who was responsible for the ghastly defilement of the body of Joey Drapiza, 26, of barangay San Jose this town, who worked as a construction worker in Korea. He died Dec. 13.

Rosalie Caguioa, Drapiza’s cousin, told The PUNCH that the death certificate did not state the cause of death.

Caguioa said the family only learned about Joey’s death through a phone call from his co-workers but they did not say how he died. “Abangan niyo na lang po ang pag-uwi ng bangkay niya,” was all that they stressed.

The only information and notice that the family received from Drapiza’s employer, VSL Company in Korea and represented in the country by Yang Wa, was about the flight details of arrival of the cargo containing his cadaver.

Drapiza left for Korea last February 23.

Caguioa said they also sought the help of former Overseas Workers Welfare

Administration administrator Wilhelm Soriano from San Carlos City, Drapiza’s relative and expressed hope that he could initiate the investigation.

The body arrived December 15 and will be interred on December 23.

According to the funeral parlor’s staff that assisted the family, Drapiza’s eyes were missing when the box was opened. His wife Rommelie also noticed that Joey’s hair appeared different.

”Kung sino man po ang pwedeng tumulong sa amin sana tulungan kami para

panagutin kung sino man po ang me kagagawan ng pagkamatay niya,”  Caguioa said. – EVA
