Killers of lawyer, wife charged in court

ALAMINOS CITY -The police filed on Wednesday  a double murder case against a  policeman, a barangay kagawad and two civilians for the killing of Atty. Froilan Siobal and his wife, Erlinda, in broad daylight in barangay Inerangan on November 19.

Senior Superintendent Noli Taliño, deputy provincial director for operations and provincial intelligence officer whowas designated head of Task Force Siobal, told The PUNCH that the case has been filed at the Office of Prosecutor Genebin Finez in Alaminos City.

Taliño credited Task Force Siobal and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the province led by Superintendent Manuel Velasco, provincial police office and the Crime Laboratory for the speedy solution of the case.

 Based on two witnesses’ sworn affidavits, the suspects were identified as SPO1 Agapito “Pitong” Celino, assigned to the 106th Provincial Mobile Group in this city, Barangay Kagawad Donald Sison of barangay San Miguel, Bani town, Ojing Alvarez and Edgar Rarang.

 Sr. Supt. Alan Purisima, police provincial director, ordered the re-assignment and restriction of suspect Celino to the provincial police office in Lingayen town effective Thursday. Celino denied his participation in the crime saying he was on duty at the time the incident happened.

Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil, Ilocos police regional director, congratulated his men for a job well done even as he ordered them to continue to maintain a strong presence in the area for the safety of the witnesses.

Siobal, 57, and his wife Erlinda, 59, both residents of San Miguel, Bani, were on their way home after attending morning Sunday Mass. The victims were on board their Fiat sports car (CHN 777) and traveling along Siobal St. in Inerangan, Alaminos City when they were blocked about a kilometer away from their house by the gunmen.

Police recovered 12 empty shells at the crime scene.
