FVR, FPJ lead Pangasinenses in KNP honor roll

FORMER President Fidel V. Ramos will lead outstanding Pangasinenses, including the late Fernando Poe Jr., who will be honored on December 21 during a gala dinner at the Pandango Room of Manila Hotel organized by the Kaluyagan Nen Palaris (KNP).

This was announced by KNP president Francisco Bravo, Senior Undersecretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and a native of San Nicolas town.

KNP is the newly revived civic organization of Manila-based Pangasinan businessmen and professionals.

KNP’s revival was initiated by former Agrarian Reform Minister Conrado Estrella to unite Manila-based Pangasinenses to serve once more as a catalyst for camaraderie and networking for the benefit of the province and Pangasinenses.

According to the KNP Secretary General Melandrew Velasco, the Grand Fellowship of Pangasinenses honor, recognition and citation will be handed out to outstanding Pangasinenses with identifiable, outstanding work in the development of Pangasinan as well as those who have risen to national and international prominence as a result of their outstanding documented and verifiable contributions to national and international development.

 Aside from FVR, other Pillar awardees are House Speaker Jose De Venecia Jr., former Senator Leticia Ramos Shahani, former Central Bank Governor Gabriel Singson, former Supreme Court Chief Justice Andres Narvasa, former NEDA Director and Presidential Adviser Hilarion “Larry” Henares, former Agrarian Reform Minister Conrado Estrella Sr., former Ambassador and RCBC Chairman Alfonso Yunchengco, former GMA 7 President Menardo “Nards” Jimenez, former

GSIS Chairman General Jose Magno, movie actress Gloria Romero, former Pangasinan Governors Tito Primicias, Rafael M. Colet, Vicente Millora and Demetrio G. Demetria, former Anti-Poverty Alleviation Secretary Marireta Primicias Goco, lawyer Siguion Reyna, and former Press Secretary Jesus Sison.

Chairing this year’s KNP awards is OWWA Trustee and KNP treasurer Virgie Pasalo.

The posthumous award for the late Fernando Poe Jr. will be in recognition of his achievements as the country’s Philippine movie king who started his movie career with “Anak Ni Palaris.”

Other posthumous awardees include: former Governor Aguedo F. Agbayani, former Information Minister Gregorio Cendana, former Executive Secretary Jacobo Clave, former Federation of Free Farmers founder Jeremias Montemayor, Dona Consuelo Perez, Dr. Jose Tamayo and Justice Porfirio Sison for their exemplary service and dedication for the Kaluyagan Nen Palaris.

Among the international awardees are former Hawaii Governor Benjamin Cayetano, Milpitas City (California) Mayor Jose Esteves and Seattle Washington Rep. Velma Veloria.

KNP is now being led by development-oriented leaders headed by DENR Usec. Francisco S. Bravo, president; Tony Tamayo, vice-president; Melandrew Velasco, secretary-general; Aurora Bautista, secretary; and OWWA Trustee Virginia Pasalo, treasurer.
