The provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched its search for DTI-certified establishments, meaning those that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business operations.

DTI official Marjury Loresco said the search aims to give recognition to establishments that give consumers value for their money and contribute to the province’s overall economic development through sound business practices.

“The program was created to promote and foster the highest level of business ethics and uphold a fair and honest marketplace through voluntary self-regulation and service excellence,” Loresco told THE PUNCH.

A store can qualify as a DTI-certified establishment if it sets up a sustainable Consumers Welfare Desk (CWD) or a recognized customer service counter that will provide information to consumers and also serves as mechanism for speedy resolution of consumer complaint.

Eligible for DTI certification are supermarkets, department stores, appliance centers, hardware stores, and service and repair shops.

Owners of business establishments in the province and city can get application forms at the DTI provincial office in Dagupan City.

So far, GNS Tires and Service, City light cellphone Center and Audio Electronics and General Merchandizing, both of Dagupan City, have been recognized as DTI-Certified Establishments after being proven to have complied with all the requirements.

The awarding of DTI certification for establishments is being done on quarterly basis. — AQL
