Rain dampens All Saints Day observance

RAIN spoiled the observance of All Saints Day in Dagupan last Wednesday, and made it difficult for many to visit their loved ones entombed at the city’s different cemeteries.

The downpour, which came towards late afternoon, only worsened the situation at the Roman Catholic, Independent and Bonuan public cemeteries, which were already inundated by water that lagged from rains spurred by super typhoon Paeng last Monday.

Councilor Netu Tamayo, noting the pathetic condition at the various public cemeteries in the city, vowed to call the attention of the city council to direct the filling of flooded areas.

At the Roman Catholic and Independent church cemeteries, people had to wear rain boots to enter the narrow alleys where the water was almost a foot deep. Most other walkways were also flooded or muddy.

Tamayo noted that the situation was a little better at the Eternal Gardens, Mt. Zion Memorial Park and the Chinese cemetery on Perez Boulevard. – A.P.E
