Videoke bars banned in Manaoag
MANAOAG – Mayor Napoleon Sales said his order for the phasing out of all videoke bars stays amid rumors that he received P200,000 as protection money from the operator of a videoke bar that he had ordered padlocked.
“I will never allow the videoke bar to reopen after it was also found to have no business permit, no sanitary permit and its GROs have no health permits,” the mayor said.
He had ordered the J and B Videoke bar closed for being a prostitution front after arresting 10 guest relations officers of the bar who were found positive of sexually transmitted diseases.
Sales denied having talked to the operator of the J & B Videoke.
The police and the municipal health office have intensified inspection of all videoke bars, including restaurants and eateries that are suspected to be operating as entertainment establishments at night.
He reiterated his pledge to keep the clean image of Manaoag being the pilgrimage center of the north where devotees from all over the world go to regularly. – A.P.E.
