The construction of the proposed  Perez Boulevard-AB Fernandez East Avenue-Tebeng-San Miguel diversion road is now being discussed to help decongest traffic as well as open a new growth area in Dagupan City.

According to Engr. Rudy Fernandez, executive assistant III, the proposed diversion road is currently being pursued by the Lim administration to provide motorists and the riding public traversing Calasiao, Caranglaan, Mayombo and AB Fernandez Avenue faster travel time.

The proposed diversion road, which is about 4.4 kilometers long, has an estimated cost of P173 million including the acquisition of the road right of way.

Mayor Benjamin Lim met with Fernandez last week to discuss the initial preparation of the program of work as well as the parcellary plan for the proposed road network project.

Lim has reportedly initiated discussions with some of the families who will be affected by the construction of the diversion road about their possible relocation to the Gawad Kalinga Bangusville housing site.

Fernandez said the proposed diversion road will also reduce traffic congestion along the McArthur road extending to traffic post number 1and will also serve as an alternate route to McArthur highway.

It was reportedly Mayor Lim’s idea two years ago to build a diversion road not only to decongest traffic but also to expand Dagupan’s central business district as well as to increase the local and national investment opportunities for the city.
