Ladderized education for a better future
CAREER CARAVAN IN DAGUPAN
IT’S a matter of empowerment.
Thus said Secretary Augusto ‘Boboy’ Syjuco, director general of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in his recent visit here as part of the nationwide career caravan of the agency.
Syjuco presented the new ladderized program of the national government that aims to provide job seekers the advantage in terms of proper training and education that the era of globalization now requires.
Syjuco who met up hundreds of high school and college students at the Dagupan Astrodome, explained how crucial is the ladderized education these days as many graduates are still jobless and hopeless.
He assured them that under the ladderized education system, technical-vocational courses are creditable for a college degree.
He described the ladderized education as an opportunity for poor students who want to pursue a college education and still give the student who completed a tech-voc course of his choice in just six months will have a better chance at landing a job.
“Out of 350,000 graduates from college every year, only 1 out of 3 find employment,” Syjuco told his audience.
“Noon tao ang naghahanap ng trabaho. Ngayon, trabaho na ang naghahahanap ng tao. And this became possible through the implementation of the ladderized education system in the country,” said Syjuco.
Atty. Gonzalo Duque, president of Lyceum Northwestern University agreed with Syjuco.
“We are trying to re-engineer the capabilities of our workers to be competitive,” said Duque, where he cited that his school is one of the institutions that set trend in hotel restaurant management or HRM.
Although, there are now institutions that are now under the program, Syjuco and Duque are still encouraging other colleges to support the new system to help the big number of jobless graduates in the country.
“It is empowerment because the ladderized education offers you the opportunity to take control of your life, equip yourself with the skills and competencies you need to get job, earn an income, eventually fulfill your dream of finishing college,” Syjuco explained. – AQL
