LINGAYEN – A cashier of the Bayambang District Hospital is now in hot water after a special audit found her cash count short by P482,000.

Hospital cashier Josefina de Guzman was given by the Commission on Audit up to October 10 to restitute the amount till October 10 and it appears that she has failed to comply up at presstime.

A team from the Commission on Audit conducted a spot audit on the cash in the possession of De Guzman upon the request of the Provincial government through Provincial Administrator Virgilio Solis.

Solis said he invited De Guzman and other officials of the hospital to his office but the cashier allegedly assumed full responsibility for the cash shortage.

De Guzman did not implicate any other official to the mess although there were reports that the cash shortage stemmed from unliquidated cash advances made of some hospital officials.

Solis clarified that the restitution of the amount does not extinguish the criminal and administrative liabilities from De Guzman. — APE
