Clean up drive in Tondaligan ongoing
A cleaner and more organized Tondaligan Park awaits visitors after a major clean-up drive was launched September 1.
Assistant City Engineer Marcelo Prado who was recently designated as Tondaligan Park Administration (TPA)-officer-in-charge, has ordered the make-over of the city’s beach park in a bid to sustain public patronage.
Prado said that among the changes included the dismantling of some 26 makeshift comfort rooms which constituted eyesores in the park.
He added that illegally tapped electrical, cable and water connections have been removed and announced that new streetlights will be installed along the main road of Tondaligan and the pathway to the beach to ensure safety of residents and visitors.
His next target will be the dismantling of the illegal extensions of sheds constructed by shed-owners.
To ensure continuity of the clean-up program, Prado met with the Tondaligan shed owners association to secure their commitment to support the “Arap, Beneg, Diking ko, Linisan ko” program.
“The shed owners must be made fully responsible the cleanliness of the surroundings of their respective sheds,” Prado said.
The city government’s plan to re-develop Tondaligan park into a Tourism Eco-Zone featuring an integrated resort complex was presented during a consultative meeting on Public Governance System (PGS) last September 21. – ( CIO)
