City employees undergo ‘simplification’ seminar
A half-day seminar on work simplification and human resource strategy for quality and productivity improvement was conducted recently as part of the city government’s 5 S (sweep, sort, sanitize, systematize, self-discipline) program.
A team of lecturers from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) composed of NEDA Region supervising officer Gideon Nuesca and administrative officer V Manny Gabaun arrived to act as facilitators.
The seminar focused on the values of the ISTIV concept (industrious, systematic, time-conscious, innovative and value) for work.
Related topics such as worker productivity, attitude, skills, values, work environment, work systems, management attitude and values, labor management cooperation, information system, external influences, and investments in machinery and equipment were also discussed by the experts.
City administrator Raffy Baraan expressed confidence that the work ethic in the city hall would improve with the completion of the seminar.
“We are on our way to becoming a more organized, more efficient and quality-centered office,” Baraan said.
According to Baraan, the city government recently organized the 5S committee led by city tourism office OIC Dea Que to oversee the cleanliness and orderly set-ups at the City Hall, an effort considered contributory in improving work flows and delivery of basic services.
The seminar was attended by department heads, assistant department heads, city hall employees, and some representatives from the City Schools Division. (CIO)
