BAYAMBANG – A special audit conducted at the Bayambang District Hospital found half a million pesos in unliquidated cash advances by its officials.

The special audit was conducted by the Commission on Audit after receiving reports from the provincial government that it suspected BDH funds were being misused.

Consequently, not only the BDH but also other government hospitals and local government units which the COA said also have sums of unliquidated  advances, will  undergo surprised audit.

However, Dr. Nicanor Miguel, BDH chief, said the report was unfounded and expressed confidence that the issues will be cleared soon. He believed the complaint was politically motivated.

Gov. Victor Agbayani, through Provincial Administrator Virgilio Solis, dispatched the audit team to the BDH to look into its present cash position as a result of a complaint from an anonymous source.

The team audited also audited the hospital’s personnel records, medicines on stock, supplies and equipment.

In an interview, Solis withheld the names of personnel involved in unliquidated cash advances, pending further investigation.

Prior to this,   the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (EPDH) in Tayug also underwent the same audit but findings were not disclosed to the media. – A.P.E.
