Barangay captains told to cooperate

Dirty and magulo.

Taking off from the above succinct description of the Dagupan City by recent visitor, Robert Kuan, chairman of St. Luke’s Hospital, City Administrator Rafael Baraan urged the city’s barangay chairmen to help make a difference for the city and organize to accelerate the implementation of the planned development for the city.

“If we don’t move fast, if we don’t put our acts together, we might become a ghost city. I know this is something we don’t want to happen,” Baraan told his audience as he appealed cooperation.

He stressed that the development can only start in their respective barangays and directed the barangay officials to be more aware and involved in resolving the issues beseting their areas.

Public Order and Safety Office chief Robert Erfe Mejia identified drug trafficking, illegal gambling, illegal video game machines, family disputes, prostitution, minors leaning on to alcohol and garbage disposal as serious concerns in the barangays.

Baraan zeroed in on the garbage disposal problem which he said is a major problem in the city, and unless immediately addressed, tourists and investors may finally be discouraged to do business in the city. — AQL
