Barangay brass probe ‘ghost’ projects
SAN FABIAN – Are there ‘ghost’ projects in San Fabian?
This question arose after Liga ng mga Barangay president Roland Villegas confronted Municipal Planning and Development Officer Rosela Lazo over the complaints of his fellow barangay captains who were reportedly made to sign and acknowledge accomplished projects that that they were not aware of.
Twenty-six barangay chairmen, trooped to the inquiry conducted by the town’s sangguniang bayan to find out from Lazo why some of them were asked to sign vouchers for non-existent projects in their barangays.
Villegas cited the complaint of the barangay captain of Mabilao who said his barangay did not receive a single project from the municipal government.
The barangay captain said that the only projects built in his barangays were only those funded by Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., Gov. Victor Agbayani and the Board Members of the 4th District.
However, Lazo denied the charge and maintained that her office planned and implemented projects in every barangay in coordination with the Barangay Captains and cited the projects implemented.
She also denied accusations by barangay captains that she was making project plans without consulting them about their priories.
Villegas said he will call barangay captains to another meeting to get their consensus if a formal investigation of Lazo will still be necessary. – APE
