Summit for provincial employees mulled
LINGAYEN – After prescribing the payment of “additional compensation” for its employees, the provincial government is set to convene a provincial employees’ summit to craft a suitable continuing education, skills development and livelihood assistance program for them.
This was contained in a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on motion of Fourth District and Majority Floor Leader John Agerico Rosario.
The resolution directed the SP’s committee on labor to convene a summit of employees from concerned provincial government departments and various line agencies that could discuss enhanced program for provincial employees.
Rosario said the move is necessary to provide ordinary government employees with alternative income sources and opportunity for promotion in the face of global competition and rising career challenges.
He said Gov. Victor Agbayani has expressed full support for the planned program for the government employees.
“We are fortunate for having a very supportive Governor whose other priority is to implement various programs that will provide broader and better opportunities for our people to make them more productive and self-sufficient,” Rosario said.
The Pangasinan State University, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and the Technology and Livelihood Resource Center will be asked to help organize the summit.
