Pangasinan All-Star bikefest on Sept. 15

      SEVENTY of Panga-sinan’s prominent professional and amateur cyclists will see action when the much-awaited Pangasinan All-Stars Cycling Classic finally kicks off on September 15.

        According to Engr. Rosendo So, the chief organizer, the road race, exclusively for Pangasinan riders, will be sponsored by 6th district Cong. Conrado Estrella III and to be supported by 5th district Rep.Mark Cojuangco, 5th and 6th districts Board Members Danny Uy and Eskimo Estrella, respectively, Panelco Dir. Nestor Revita and Villasis former hizzoner Ramon “Monching” Morden with a total amount of P80,000 in cash prizes at stake plus trophies and medals.

       Engr. So said the road battle will start in Sta. Maria and end at Tayug town proper traversing 24 eastern and central towns like Asingan, San Manuel, Binalonan, Pozorrubio, Manaoag, San Jacinto, San Fabian, Mangaldan, Sta. Barbara, Calasiao, San Carlos City, Basista, Bayambang, Malasiqui, Villasis, Carmen junction, Rosales, Balungao, Umingan, San Quintin, Natividad and San Nicolas, with an approximate distance of 200 kilometers.

        The champion will pocket P15,000 cash prize, while the first and  second runners-up bag P12,000 and P9,000, respectively, all with trophy each.

       Fourth finisher nets P7,000 and fifth placer earns P5,000, while the sixth up to tenth finishers will receive P3,000 each. The fourth up to tenth finishers are to receive medal apiece. Consolation prizes for 11th to 20th placers will be given in the form of  P500 each, and all survivors are  to receive P300 apiece.

       Summit-sprint prizes worth P500, P300 and P200 will also be awarded to the first three placers to cross designated lines in Calasiao, San Carlos City and Villasis, courtesy of Blandino Caguioa, 2nd Engineering District czr Rodolfo Dion and DPWH Region 1 Dir. Engr. Fidel Ginez, respectively.

       “By organizing competitive events like this, our local cyclists get the opportunity to hone their riding skills and gain more experience to prepare them for future bigger competitions,” Engr. So said.

       The pedal-by-pedal account of the well-paved and flat trek will be aired live, from start to finish, over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, 1161 Khz AM.

       Race starts at 9:00 a.m. with Cong. Estrella flagging off the contestants.
