MANAOAG –  Here’s a fair warning to the singing machos frequenting the videoke bars in this town: All  nine “guest relations officers”  apprehended  by the police last Wednesday night turned out to be positive of sexually transmitted  diseases.

Mayor Napoleon Sales, alarmed by the findings, ordered Municipal Health Officer Dr. Raymund Veloria to temporarily desist from issuing new health certificates to ladies arriving in town to work at videoke bars here.

He said sudden proliferation of “GROs” in the town is giving it a bad image despite it’s being the spiritual capital of Pangasinan.

He also ordered the police to conduct more raids on videoke bars in the town to ferret out more “GROs” without the requisite health certificate or pink cards.

Also ordered to be arrested are owners of establishments employing “GROs” without the requisite health permit or pink card in violation of a municipal ordinance.

Under the ordinance, videoke bars found employing “GROs” sans health permits would be padlocked and can only   resume operations if their owners can show documents that warrant the resumption of their operations.

Apparently, the arrival of “GRO-transferees” was precipitated   by a crackdown in the operation of videoke bars in adjacent towns of San Jacinto, Mangaldan and recently Dagupan City. – APE
