DPWH discards casuals
THE casual employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways affected by the streamlining of the agency’s personnel have been urged to apply for early retirement.
DPWH Regional Director Fidel Ginez assured that all those who would opt for early retirement, especially those nearing retirement age, would be properly compensated.
He said the streamlining policy is in line with the austerity program of the government, for it to save on cash which could be used to finance priority projects of great benefits to the people.
To be affected by the new policy are the Agno Flood Control System and the various engineering districts in the provinces.
However, he clarified that the streamlining of staffing will be scheduled and done gradually to enable the employees to adjust and source new means of livelihood.
Ginez, however, said that casual employees who are about to finish their contracts will no longer be given an extension. – A.P.E.
