Merging of 2 Pangasinan school divisions opposed
LINGAYEN – Provincial Board Member Danny Uy expressed his opposition to the call for the unification of Pangasinan Division I and II.
Uy voiced out his sentiment against the resolution proposed by his colleague, Romeo Dadacay, asking the Department of Education to merge Division I and II to save on expenses.
But Uy said having two school divisions in Pangasinan is the most ideal situation considering the vast area to be covered.
Pangasinan is even bigger in land size and population than the three other Ilocos provinces of La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte combined, he said.
Uy recalled that when Pangasinan had only one school division, school officials were not able to visit many far-flung schools to check on the needs of their teachers and students.
But this was reversed when the lone Pangasinan division was split into two, he added as he frowned on Dadacay’s proposal.
He said that since Pangasinan I and Pangasinan II are already in place, recognized by Dep Ed (Department of Education), this should be maintained for better quality education. – APE
