Fertilizers not from Bolante’s – Mayor Libunao

SAN FABIAN – The fertilizer fund that the town received did not come from the so-called Bolante scam.

This was Mayor Mojamito Libunao’s retort to the malicious speculations by councilors about the fetilizer fund.

He said the P250,000 fertilizer fund was released by the Agriculture Department one year before the controversial fertilizer scam involving former Agriculture  Undersecretary Jocelyn ‘Joc Joc’ Bolante broke out.

He maintained that local farmers received their share of the government fertilizer subsidy distributed by the Department of Agriculture in 2003, through the office of the municipal agriculturist.

Libunao stressed that there was nothing irregular about its distribution since it was not part of the alleged fertilizer scam involving Bolante.

He said the municipal agriculturist already submitted to the Commission on Audit the liquidation papers for the P250,000  fertilizer fund released for the municipality months after the farmers received their share.

He said the COA wrote the municipal government asking for duplicate documents papers as it obviously misplaced or lost the first documents already submitted to it. – APE
